OUR GUIDELINES FOR FOSTERING
1. INTAKE
Our dogs come to us in two ways. They are reported as needing assistance, or they are brought in by K9 admin members through community wellness checks.
2. POSTING FOR FOSTERS
Dogs needing foster care are posted to THIS page. Check back often!
Foster coordinators will sometimes tag people according to their applications or preference. If you are interested in fostering a particular dog, comment ASAP! The need is usually URGENT! The quicker we can find a foster, the sooner that dog will be safe and in the care of K9 Advocates Manitoba once transport is arranged. We don’t waste time!
3. FOSTERS FOUND
Once you have agreed to accept a foster dog, we will arrange to chat with you through messenger to coordinate a pick-up date and time, supply any needs, and answer your questions about the dog.
4. RESCUE/FLIGHTS
Upon arrival of your foster dog, out-of-province rescue groups will be contacted to assist with finding a forever home. All dogs are pending adoption approval and have fosters to find forever homes waiting for them from eastern to western Canada. Isn’t that amazing! All provinces have waiting lists for dogs. Once we secure a flight date, you will be notified by messenger chat, and we will work with you to make the necessary arrangements to get your foster dog on its way to its forever home.
5. WE DON’T DO ADOPTIONS
Did you know there are over 50 adopting rescue groups in Manitoba?
We are a frontline rescue. We bring in homeless, injured, sick, emaciated, and unwanted dogs. Our goal is to provide for the voiceless and to attempt to eliminate overpopulation and suffering among animals in these communities.
Because we bring in such a large number of dogs and do not adopt them out ourselves (and therefore do not receive adoption fees), we rely on donations to continue doing what we do.
If you have any questions please direct them to the following people via Facebook:
Foster coordinator- Jennifer Paquin Koster
Foster coordinator- Kristin Hagen
Shop supply manager- Kathlene Kuzak
If you’d like to help, please consider fostering, volunteering, transporting, advocating, fundraising.
The dogs are always friendly and typically good with other dogs. Most will not be cat tested. We provide you with support and all the supplies you’ll need as well as the vetting. Fostering is typically a 2-3 week commitment while we arrange for flights to their adopting rescues. These rescues across Canada have pre approved adopters just waiting to adopt a rescue dog in need.

We have a list of dogs waiting to come into care but cannot accept them without foster homes. These dogs are all at risk and our hearts break with every request. .
LOOK AT THEIR
FACES! PLS
HELP SAVING
THEIR LIVES
We get multiple messages every single day asking for help to take dogs in. These dogs are currently living outside.Their chances to make it are slim

One’s owner moved and left him without shelter or food & is starving. 2nd is a stray also with no food or shelter. 3rd lives outdoors & needs rescue.

We could bring them in if we had fosters for them, they are trying desperately to survive winter alone. We need fosters to save their lives. XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
